The Ped Egg Really Works

Ok, if you've read my blog in the past..then you know I have the worst feet on earth. I always mention in reviews I do on any lotion/body butter, that I test them out on my feet first. My feet get dry and nasty. I've tried all those home pedicure things from foot scrubs to pumice stones. Nothing has ever worked to relieve me of the nasty flaky dry cracking heel skin yuck.
So, I got a JCPenney gift card for my birthday (which is this Tuesday :-) ) and just couldn't find any clothes or stuff that I wanted. So I wandered over to the home goods department and saw the Ped Egg. I had heard from some forum members at Lemming Central that this thing was the bomb...I had a gift card so I wasn't really spending my money..so I said what the hell and bought one.
It looks like a mini cheese grater lol. Your supposed to rub it up and down on your dry or callused areas and it just takes the crap off your feet. So I'm sitting there on the Living Room floor (don't get all grossed out because there's a container under the grater to catch your nasty foot shavings) and just gave it a go. Well ladies and gents, it actually works. I never thought I'd say that about anything "AS SEEN ON TV" but this lil Ped Egg is fantastic. It took all the dead crap off my feet and now they are smooth (ok, they will never be as smooth as a babies butt so I'm not gonna say they are). What remains in the catch cup under the grater looks like a pile of dust. Just dump that in the garbage and you're good to go.

My warning is..don't get way too gung ho when you get one. Every time I felt some dry cracky skin I'd grab the Ped Egg and go to town..well now my heels are a lil sore cause I took off too much skin. So, use it maybe once a week. Don't go crazy like I did this week.
Now, I've paid up to $5 for stupid pumice stones that never did anything. The Ped Egg retails for $10 on average. I got mine at JCPenney but you can find them all over the place like at Target and Walmart. This thing really does work and for me (I don't go get pedicures at the salon...like it's way too much money) and I'm going to save myself time and money. I actually am starting to kinda maybe like my feet....if only they would shrink to a size 7 instead of 9 and a half..alas I guess the Ped Egg can't do it all.

Mountain Mist is the Best Kind of Mist

A few weeks ago, I went to the Craftsmans Classic Arts & Crafts show at the local Expo center here in Northern VA (the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly). I'm scanning the booths to see if I run into any of my Indie friends when I find a new B&B store that's set up shop at the show. The store is called Mountain Mist.

They have a variety of B&B products that we're all used to seeing from Bath Bombs to Scrubs and even candles. What really impressed me was their fragrances. Now, they don't have a lot of scents likes some online etailers, but these fragrances are all wonderful. They're strong without being overpowering and they just smell divine.

I ended up buying their Bath Salts and some Shea Creme. The Shea Creme I bought in their Amber Morning fragrance, which is a blend of Amber, Pineapple and plums. If they didn't list the notes, I never would've guessed that Pineapple and Plums were in it. This is such a beautiful fragrance. It truly lifts the spirits and just leaves an air of enchantment. The Shea Creme goes on nice and smooth. I bought a 4 ounce jar which cost $12. But the ingredients are great and the scent is even better. I must say, their few scents will give some etailers a run for their money.

The bath salts are divine. I bought some in Amber Morning, Rain and Sprig. They were selling the bath salts at $2 per scoop (into these draw string plastic bags) or fill a jar for $12. I bought 2 scoops of each scent. The smell from the bath salts in their bag just fills up my bathroom and it's wonderful. The scents are clean and fresh and again without being overpowering and noxious. The bath salts sell for $14 for a 14 ounce jar.

They have solid lotion bars, bath teas, bath bombs, salt & sugar scrubs, shea butter soap, lip balms and more. Prices are reasonable and if you catch them at a show then you get to sniff and also skip the shipping costs. The prices of their products are pretty reasonable too. I mentioned "sampler boxes" to the owners and I would hope they would participate in one so you all could sample their stuff. Trust me though, these scents are just fabulous and they have more than the 3 I tried. These are just the ones I liked the best and I had a hard time deciding as it was. So go climb the Mountain and sample the Mist.

WARNING: LEGOS CAN DESTROY TEETH

I have gotten a first hand lesson last week about not using your teeth to pull Legos part. A couple of months back, my oldest told me he had a lump in his mouth that hurt. So, I looked at it like any normal Mom would do and lo and behold the gum was swollen into a lump. I asked him what he did..and after much pain and suffering, found out that he had tried to separate two Lego pieces with his teeth. I kept an eye on it the next few days and the swelling went down.

Well, last Tuesday was his 6 month dental checkup. As the dentist is looking at his teeth I hear, "Mom, we have an abcessed tooth." I jumped up to see what he was talking about and it was the tooth that was next to that lump he had. He took an x-ray and you could see that the tooth was dying. The roots were all shriveled up. It had to be pulled! Plus, my son had an infection.

So, two days and antibiotics later and we're back at the dentist for the extraction. Lots of infected goop under the tooth and there had to be a spacer put between the teeth. This tooth shouldn't have fallen out for about 3-4 more years. The spacer (this little piece of metal) cost almost $400.

So, the moral of this story you may ask....is go and buy one of these snazzy "brick separator" tools from Lego.. You can either buy it online at Lego.com or in any Lego store for $1.69(that only sells Lego). I think, now that I know, that $1.69 is worth is compared to $147 for an extraction, $348 for the spacer and $80 for the nitrous oxide to calm him down.....don't you think that $1.69 is worth it..I sure do.
I swear, I am the living Murphy's Law.
